There was no microwave contest organized in the Netherlands in June 2004, a good reason to set up 2 microwave stations at the top floor of the university while PA4T was running the UKSMG contest in our shack one floor below. The first station was the 10GHz 180mW 60cm dish station of PA3GFE, the station we started with on 10GHz in 2000 and still doing well! The second station was the 5.6 and 10 GHz 16W 85cm dish station of PG5D, using the call PG5D. Also a simple 23cm station was build up with indoor antenna, the outdoor antenna rotators were in use by the 50 MHz contest operators.

All stations were situated indoor! On the picture PA3GFE operates on 6cm.
The results were very good for the 180mW station:
180 mW Tropo DF7JS JO31JM 93km DJ4AM/p JO31GL 75DJ6TA JO30MS 133DK2MN JO32PC 146DK3FF JO30MT 131DL0RTA JO40BP 206DL0VR JO31LG 106DL3IAS JN49EJ 307DL3YEE JO42GT 260DL4BBU/p JO31LP 106DL8EBK/p JO31GL 75
In 2000 we only had 180 mW and a rainy May contest. We worked with this 180 mW and a 60cm offset dish on 10 GHz
16 W DJ4AM/p JO31GL 75km DJ6TA JO30MS 133DK2MN JO32PC 146DL0GTH JO50JP 384DL0RTA JO40BP 206DL0VR JO31LG 106DL3YEE JO42GT 260DL4BBU/p JO31LP 106DL8EBK/p JO31GL 75G4GRK IO91DP 496
Since that contest in July we worked many times stations via Rain Scatter on 6 and 3 cm, but mosts station could be worked also via tropo. In the contest of May 2004 there were heavy thunderstorms again over Germany, giving us again real DX.
